‘are you okay, keira?’ junhyung leaned forward, now, serious and worried.
‘um…well…’ keira struggled, she didn’t want him to know that she was freaking out about working for them, so she decided to tell another story which was also true and was also something she was stressing over. Clearing her throat she started, ‘well, my friend back at home’ she gestured pointing at a random direction, then looked to see if junhyung understood that she wasn’t talking about her apartment in korea. He nodded and she continued, ‘her long time boyfriend broke up with her, and she is very upset.’ thinking whether she should stop there she finished the last drop of her drink and crossed her arms.
‘I suppose there is more to that?’ raising an eyebrow at her short story, he wanted to know if that was really all that was on her mind.
‘she found out later that it was because he found another person…’ sighing keira bowed her head and closed her eyes. ‘they were so good together though, I would have thought they would have gotten married or something’ she chuckled, ‘but it seems as though things can change instantly. I remember being the third wheel.' she chuckled, 'It was a bit annoying, but it was also nice seeing them, especially my friends, all happy and sweet and couple-like. It built onto my hope that I would meet someone like that for me.’
the truth always was, that, keira had never had a boyfriend before. she just hadnt found a good one yet. she had longed for a boyfriend who would hold her hands, hug her around her waist, pull her close to him, protect her, look out for her, have fun with and also able to share those moments with, like a kiss. but no guy had ever liked her, well there have been, but they were definitely not suitable for her.
Junhyung saw something shiny drop down from her face as she kept her head bowed. After a few seconds two more drops fell until he realised she was crying.
‘huh. just because of one jerk you plan on giving up on all guys?’ he sighed, not knowing what to do. At least she wasn’t balling her eyes out.
‘no!~’ keira jerked up and looked him hard in the eyes. Even though at this moment she was a mess, junhyung still found her pretty and radiant...full of energy. ‘never…’ relaxing a bit, keira quickly wiped her face forcefully with her sleeve, ‘I know that there is someone out there who is meant for me…and….and one day we will find each other’
Slightly saddened at the end of her sentence yet finding her adorable, junhyung joked, ‘well, that’s me out of the list then?’ not wanting to see her reaction he lifted his finger to call for the waiter who came over, ‘ill just get coke with ice thanks.’
keira and junhyung spent hours together. Just sitting, staring at random objects, looking around and chatting a few times.
‘so, what do you think of the boys?’ junhyung asked after finishing his drink, shaking the leftover ice around.
‘I think theyre not bad’ keira shrugged, ‘I don’t really know them yet, but I feel that they are good guys’
laughing junhyung stated, ‘I think theyre the best guys!…' then quietening down a bit he said, 'the best guys who are in my life right now...’
keira sat there realising how strong the bond between the BEAST were and also how gentle and kind junhyung was behind that cool, cold, handsome face. because she had either been busy looking around to see if anyone saw them talking, kept her head bowed, crying, or looking at her glass, she never really realised how scarily attractive junhyung was to her. well she knew he was attractive the first time they met. but this time, at this setting it was different. he was different. more relaxed and comfortable. another kind of comfortable. she started admiring his hair. he was wearing a beanie this morning so she never saw what his hair was like, until now. it was shiny, dark, or that may have just been the lighting. he had a nice clean but stylish fringe. it all looked fluffy yet smooth. she felt the urge to entangle or comb her fingers through it so she moved on to his eyes. those piercing yet gentle sparkling eyes, she could see that they can hold a lot of passion within them. junhyung held a contrasting image. he looked hard, cool, selfish. but he was really soft, sweet and warm. as keira scanned his pointy nose down to his lips. she felt a tinge jealously. jealously for those girls who had been with him longer than her, for those girls who had been in a relationship with him, if he had any, and for those girls who were able to press their lips against those thick lips of his.
feeling keiras eyes on him, junhyung smiled and looked at his cup as the remaining ice inside melted. he felt different with keira, even when she is looking at his perfections and imperfections, he doesnt mind. unlike with other females he meets or hangs around with, except for 4-minute and G.Na who he practically sees as his sisters. he wasnt defensive, or shy. its as though keira is the sun, and her gaze is like the warm sunshine. her personality seems so warm...all he can describe her as is that she IS like the SUN. as he thought about this he glanced back at keira wondering if she could see what he was thinking through his eyes and random smiles but instead of looking at him like she was a few seconds ago, she was calling for the waiter for a glass of water. sighing, he also added after her, 'two, thanks' making a peace sign with his beautiful slim fingers.
as they watched the waiter walk away again, junhyung began asking questions.
'so, what made you want to come to korea?'
after a short pause to think, keira answered, 'well, thats a long story, but the main reason was, just because...i love the language, the fashion, food-' stopping for a while, keira realised how stupid she may have sounded, 'i dunno really...i just wanted to come. blame it on past influences and television.' she pouted making junhyung smirk. 'oh! what time is it?'
shaking down his watch, 'its nearly 11:30pm'
'ohh...i think i should go now' slowly rising from her chair, 'i dont want to look a mess tomorrow, haha' keira shrugged as junhyung followed her. walking to the counter, keira reached for her wallet in her hoodie front pocket, as she pulled it out and opened it she felt a warm hand stop her from taking out a bill. looking up she saw junhyungs wide smile.
'let me pay...'
'i-er-um....okay, then...' giving up since she couldnt move her hands at all without attracting too much attention. his grasp was firm, hard to struggle out of, but gentle. walking out the door into the fresh cool air after thanking the waiter, they both shivered as a cool wind blew past.
'did you take the bus here?' junhyung turned his body to face keira as he placed his hands in his pockets.
'umm...no. i walked.'
'you walked?' laughing, junhyung pointed his head in the direction of his car, 'ill drop you off then.'
'no, its okay...youve already paid tonight~ ill think i should take a walk...'
'really?' he said as he gave her a questioning look, 'i remember...' he began to start a recall, '...someone said how they didnt want to look like a-'
'okay~! fine...ill let you drop me off...' keira waved her hands in the air as if to show she surrendered to the play-war and walked in the direction he pointed to earlier.
chuckling, 'its the black one, over there.'
as they arrived to the car keira froze, 'wow. this car is so...amazing~....' gawking at the car as she stood next to it.
'i know~...get in.' he agreed, jumping into the car.
the ride was smooth. they listened to the quiet purr of the car as he drove down the streets. he wasnt speeding like you'd think he would be...but he wasnt slow either. halfway through the ride, junhyung pressed a button and out came some beats from the speakers. it was catchy and easy-listening.
as she bobbed her head with the beat she turned around to asked him, 'what is this song?'
'you dont know?' junhyung shot her a side look and saw a blank face, shaking his head he answered, 'its Lights Go On Again...'
junhyung bursted into laughter after he heard keira compliment the song, 'huh...its really nice. i love the rap, the guy has a nice voice.'
'well of course!' he beamed, 'i rapped it!'
'haha....veeery funny,' keira mocked, until she saw the excitement in his eyes she blurted, 'WHAT? this-this....its a BEAST song?'
keiras eyes followed junhyungs head as he nodded slowly.
'WOW...okay...ha...well...ha...obviously...since you guys ARE idols here...ha.ha' keira laughed awkwardly.
letting keira fully listen to the the album, junhyung stayed silent for the rest of the drive. for once both of them felt good to have someone on the opposite gender scale share a private space together. it felt for a while that they had a relationship. but not the friendship kind.
